VoD and personalized video are delivered over flexible and scalable Cisco IP Next-Generation Networks (NGNs), typically through edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) products such as the Cisco RF Gateway Series and then through a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) access network.

Universal Session Resource Manager (USRM) is a distributed services management platform that provides carrier-class signaling and resource management with always-on operation. It supports both table-based and session-based quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) products. USRM uses open protocols for rapid deployment of new services or edge resources and can be configured to meet your architectural needs.


Cisco Digital Content Manager

Cisco Digital Content Manager processes the services. This can include pre-processing before storage on the video server as well as personalized ad insertion.

SuperCrypt is a digital video broadcast Simulcrypt-compliant bulk scrambler.


Session-Based Quadrature Amplitude Modulators

Cisco offers a family of edge QAMs that support VoD. The Cisco Continuum DVP eXtra Dense QAM Array 24 (XDQA-24) and RF Gateway 1 are deployable into the VoD architecture. They also allow QAM sharing between SDV and VoD services.
