END-OF-LIFE NOTICE, NO. 2593
Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates of the Cisco 1-Port Gigabit Ethernet and 1-Port OC-12 Packet-over-SONET (POS) Intermediate-Reach backcards for the Cisco MGX® 8000 Series Route Processor Module XF. The last day to order these 1-port backcards is December 31, 2004. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 31, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for these Cisco backcards. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the 2-Port Gigabit Ethernet and 2-Port OC-12 POS Intermediate-Reach backcards, which are the 2-port equivalents. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco 1-Port Gigabit Ethernet and 1-Port OC-12 POS Intermediate-Reach backcards for the Cisco MGX 8000 Series Route Processor Module XF to the 2-port cards.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco 1-Port Gigabit Ethernet and 1-Port OC-12 POS Intermediate-Reach backcards for the Cisco MGX 8000 Series Route Processor Module XF are the 2-port versions of the cards they are replacing (Table 3). The Cisco 2-Port OC-12 POS Intermediate-Reach Backcard for the Cisco MGX 8000 Series Route Processor Module XF adds the support for Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) interface modules similar to that for modules used on the 1-Port Gigabit Ethernet Backcard for the Cisco MGX 8000 Series Route Processor Module XF. No migration program is offered for these cards.
